Why do I get a script error / popup blocker question when playing with Internet Explorer 9?

Error message in IE 9: Error: Couldn't open app window; is the pop-up blocker enabled?

The 'Protected Mode' must be deactivated.
Proceed as follows:

IE menu: "Tools" → "Options" → "Security" → Uncheck "Enable Protected Mode" or

IE menu: "Extras" → "Internet Options" → "Security" Disable "Enable Protected Mode"
