Areas of application[Bearbeiten]

Although originally developed to automate document processing, expecco has primarily made a name for itself in the field of test automation. However, both are processes that often have to be logged in detail, that have to react flexibly to error situations and that have to verify the effects of the actions carried out. In one, actions are carried out on documents, data records, databases and logs, in the other on machines, interfaces, messages and measured values ​​and also logs.

All areas are covered by the modular structure with action modules (= activity diagrams). Our customers use the same basic system, but industry and technology specific action libraries; often self-developed or further developed for specific tasks.

Here is an excerpt of tasks that have been and are being automated by customers in the past:

Automation of Office tasks[Bearbeiten]

  • Read and edit incoming emails; Customer support, verification of records
  • Reading unstructured data from PDF, FAX via OCR or other formats
  • Reading structured data from CSV, XML, Office documents, EDIFACT, SWIFT
  • Filter and forward (e.g. to other offices)
  • Automatically answering inquiries
  • Automatic operation of GUI applications (entries in reporting portals, statistics portals, Octoware and others)

  • Generate statistics to higher-level departments

  • Simulation, load generation and prototypes (e.g. trading systems)
  • Changeovers, auto. Transforming/reformatting data when moving

Traffic[Bearbeiten]

  • Accessibility of vehicles.
  • Checking timetables
  • Checking travel times (plausibility)
  • Plausibility of operational plans
  • Reporting faults
  • Data conversion (master data when changing)

  • Hardware test benches (PLC, communication technology, automotive engineering, manufacturing and plant engineering)
  • Software test benches (control systems, monitoring and surveillance systems)
  • End-to-end test (mobile device via cloud to IoT to hardware and back)
  • Recovery from communication failures or subsystem failures
  • Integration and commissioning, calibration
  • Simulation (FMU in the loop)
  • Calibration

GUI Applications[Bearbeiten]

  • Automatic regression tests (e.g. mobile APPs on various system variants)
  • Load testing
  • Behavior in the event of incorrect entries
  • Behavior in case of communication and protocol errors
  • Incoming goods inspection (integration of third-party products)
