Local Screen 1
Using local screen automation, applications shown on your local screen can be controlled and tested, independent of their implementation.
The detection of elements and contents is done by searching images on the screen and via OCR (Optical Character Recognition). This approach has both advantages and caveats, and you should read the documentation.
Based on the arguments found there, automation and tests via screen access should only be used as a last means, when other mechanisms are not available or fail.
