GUI Browser Layout
The following describes the browser's general behavior, independent of any concrete UI technology. For details on specific features, please refer to the documentation wiki.
Let's assume, you are now connected to an application (any technology).
For your first steps, you can try the JavaSwingTest or the Notepad application, which presents all of its different widget types and is provided as an example.
For JavaSwing:
Select "Java",
check "Start App on Local Machine",
choose "SwingSet" in the jar-pulldown list,
press "Start Application",
finally click on "Connect")
For Windows-Notepad:
Select "Windows Automation 2"
check "Start Application"
make sure that "notepad.exe" is in the "Executable Path" field
click on "Connect"
The GUI Browser's presents 3 major areas:
- the xwidget tree (at the left)
- the action and attribute area (center)
- the recording and execution area (right)
